Walking update…
The Club is growing!  Welcome to the following new members:
Sheila, Christine, Stan, Annemarie, Ian, Rose, Silvano (aka Moro), Karin and Arne.  We now have 31 members on the data base.

Thanks to Lydia and Arne who graciously took the lead in showing us the way at the TC Robertson Nature Reserve.  It was daunting arriving there and not seeing a person at the gate house to hand out trail directions and then to find that no trails were marked!

The forest path was fun to negotiate, bees included, and thankfully we spent most of the walk under cover.   The picnic after the walk was nice as it gave us all a chance to get to know our fellow walkers.  This being the true reason for starting the Rambling Club.
Although we never managed a three hour walk I am sure that all went home feeling that they had achieved a good workout and were ready to relax for the rest of the day.

As discussed after the walk, our next outing will be on Sunday the 29th March – keeping to the morning time.  The venue will be at :

EMPISINI NATURE RESERVE.

Turn left towards Umkomaas, and then left again towards Saiccor.  One Km further on you turn left into Empisini.

We will be walking – rain or shine – so look forward to seeing you all there.

We will be meeting at Lords and Legends to organize the lift club as per usual between 08:15 and 08:30 – or meet at the gates at Empisini at 09:00.
Features
  • Treehouse accommodation
  • Picnic sites
  • Gentle hiking trails
  • Good bird watching
Situated on the South Coast of KZN, South Africa, 50 km south of Durban and 5 minutes from the Umkomaas diving community lies the 60 Ha Empisini nature reserve.
Empisini, meaning Place of the Hyena, is the name of the perennial
stream which flows through the valley consisting of dense reeds, wetlands, grassy slopes and 20 Ha of pristine coastal forest.
Looping through the forest, are several gentle hiking trails, demarcated picnic sites, overnight cabins, and a tree house, from which the abundant bird life can be admired.
Hope to see you all there!
